We can compare it with walking/ running. When we walk/ run continuously for long times, leg aching can be produced. We can say that our legs get tired. Just like that our eyes get tired and sometimes headache and eye aching occur. So, here I described a few important eye exercises. This is also going to help those people who work on the computer for long times or, those boys and girls who play video games.
What should we do to increase the blood flow surrounding our eyes?
If blood flow increases surrounding our eyes, more oxygen will be carried to our eyes. This gives us fresher and clearer vision. For this purpose, we need to do eye massaging. During the exercise, the eye will produce more tears and thus moisturize your eyes.
Method-
First, sit or stand in relax position. Then, close your eyes. Now, take a deep breath. Massage the outside ridge of eye sockets gently using fingers or knuckles. But, be careful. Don't press on the soft area of the eye. It may injure your eye. Do it only outside the ridge on a hard place. Do it for 2-5 minutes or more. At last, open your eyes after taking a deep breath.
What should we do to keep eyes fresh and ready for new information?
For this, you need to blink your eyes. It helps to discharges previous information and ready for new information. During blinking, your eyes will go into darkness for few moments that'd help to keep them fresh. It also helps to reduce eye strain.
Method-
Sit in a relaxed position. Then, take a deep breath. Blink every 3 seconds for the next 2 minutes. After doing it 2 minutes, try not to blink for 30 seconds at a time for 2 minutes. Repeat this for 2 to 3 rounds. Finally, close your eyes and relax for 2 minutes.
What should we do when our eyes feel rigid and stiff?
If it happens, you are highly recommended to do an exercise called eye circle. It should loosen up your tight extra-ocular muscles surrounding the eye. It is also good to refresh tired eyes.
Method-
Sit in a relaxed position. Then, take a deep breath. Now, look up, and slowly rotate your eyeballs in a circle. At first, do it in a clockwise direction for 7 circles. Then repeat once again for the counterclockwise direction. At last, relax for 2 minutes by closing your eyes.
What should we do to improve our vision?
To improve vision you need to perform a very simple and effective exercise called focusing. To do this, it’d strengthen the muscle in your eyes over time. It'll give your eyes a break from close up work and helps to focus things far away.
Method-
Sit or stand in relax position. Then, put your thumb about 10 inches in front of you. Now focus on it for 5 seconds. Then, change your focus on something else that is about 20 feet in front of you for 5 seconds. Now, switch your focus back to your thumb. Repeat this for 5 minutes or more.
What should we do to rest our mind and eyes?
You have to do a exercise called palming for this. It rest mind and eyes for a few minutes at a time. It is actually a relaxation technique. Thus, it will refresh your eyes.
Method-
Sit in relax position and take few deep breathes. I highly recommended not closing your eyes. Then, take of your hands. Now, cup them and place over both of your eyes. You have to do it in such way that no light shines through. After that, just relax and try to see only blackness and nothing else. Stay awake. Now, feel the relaxation for about 10 minutes.
What should we do to increase concentration?
To increase concentration you need to do a exercise called zooming. By doing it, your focusing skills will be strengthened. It also trains your eye muscles in general.
Method-
Sit in a comfortable position. Then, stretch out your arm to the front, and your thumb in the hitchhike position. Then, focus on your thumb as your arm is fully outstretched. After that, slowly bring your thumb closer to you, focusing all the time until it is about 10 centimeters in front of your face. Then, slowly move your thumb away again until your arm is fully outstretched. Repeat this for 5 rounds.
